Well, I believe packet-writing is possible on DVD+R/W, but to my understanding, packet-writing with UDF limits the amount of data you can backup significantly. For example, 700MB cd becomes 576MB. If you are just trying to backup, you can do this with UDF by creating a UDF fs on your system and then writing it to the DVD+R with cdrecord just as you would an iso. I think you would also use dvdrecord. -Leo http://www.serverdown.dhs.org On Wed, 2002-10-02 at 08:25, Ville Syrjälä wrote:

Hi folks,
as I'm new to this list I don't know wheter it's the right list for my purpose.
Strictly speaking no since DVD+R/RW doesn't use packet writing. But there doesn't seem to be a better place to discuss this. Others (including myself) have used this list for DVD+R/RW discussion as well.
I'm searching for information about backing up data on DVD +R/RW disc.
Can anyone provide me links or docs regarding this topic?
