Presumably you're using the default (kdm4) window manager.
Try editing /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager:
Hi No difference. Am I missing the new packages for kdm perhaps? L x
That is unusual. I recall having a similar if not same problem with a much earlier version of OpenSuSE several years ago. But i don't remember exactly what I had to do. IIRC some config files or scripts were broken and I wound up editing config files to get things working. There was very little help on kdm configuration at the time and I managed to get things working just by luck. It has probably not changed since then. Is there any clue in the logfiles xdm.log and messages? Config errors are more likely to appear in messages. Do you have themes listed in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes ? I have: $ls -F circles/ horos/ oxygen/ oxygen-air/ SUSE/ Have you tried editing the [X-*-Greeter] section in /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc? There is more config stuff in /etc/X11/xdm but that shouldn't have any real effect unless someone broke it in the release. The best way to find that out is by comparing to say, 12.1's files. Ultimately, if you get no results, doing the quick-and-dirty trick of renaming the existing theme directory in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes to $THEME-orig and symlinking $THEME to SUSE typically works. For example, renaming horos to horos-orig and then symlinking horos to SUSE. That should get you the SUSE theme and it becomes non-configurable by users. jd -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
