That does not sound to promising. :-(
I do not remember: was there some option about selecting KDE3 or KDE4 when
installiing
12.1?

In fact, there's a KDE4 developer in Flint, Michigan who says
that he STILL USES KDE3 because KDE4 is such a mess.
