Guys,
In kde 4.5.2, when kate has focus, there is a bright colored rectangle (focus indication) that draws itself around the editing window in kate/kwrite. This drives me batty as I have a dark background and dark decorations with this bright gold rectangle splashed in the middle of the editor. I've switched to Qt-Curve in the mean time (which looks pretty good).
You mean the general focussed shadow/glow effect around the entire window? What is specific to Kate here? Do you mean the focus indicator around the editing _widget_? To disable that, run oxygen-settings (tweaker town) go to Widget Style, Views, uncheck 'Draw focus indicator', click Apply and restart Kate.
