OK, you can easily argue that these apps are not "necessary" to do
"real work" whatever that is.. but in Lynn's case, it's a test for
Linux as a home computer, not a server, not a "work" computer.

Actually for some (me included) Google Earth *is* necessary for doing real
work - it's a really useful tool when it comes to doing stuff like
microwave/radio path design, workzone traffic management planning etc. so it
is important for me that it does run well on both Linux (for working from
home) and Windoze (for working at work)...
