Tonigth or may be next weekend I plan to test VMware-server 1.0.10 over 11.2 final (and decide then if I stay with openSUSE for my server or if I go with Ubuntu instead).
So you decision is based on: vmware server 2.0.2 works on karmic vmware server 1.0.10 does not work on openSUSE
-> you change to karmic?
Sounds rather unfair and I can already predict the result of that very test.
Of course, it was the "short version", but there is a long one too :-) It's vital for me keep linux-abi (http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-abi) running on my server, wich means I need something with kernel <= 2.6.28 running "forever". IMHO, the best approach here is to virtualize "something with kernel <= 2.6.28", avoiding to re-setup it every few months. Beacause actually 11.2RC2 is not able to run vmware and karmic is, I'm waiting for 11.2 final before to take my decission (wich seems to me fair enough). I like more vmware-server 1.0.x interface, but I'm considering other options, like 2.0.x version as well VirtualBox or KVM... Finally, with similar performance/reliability, I will go with Ubuntu beacause its LTS. Cheers.
