Are you running KDE4? I had the same problem and tracked it to an annoying setting in the "Personal Settings" window.
Start up the "Personal Settings" Go to Advanced > Power Management > Edit Profiles and check what the settings are for "When the system is idle for more than..." Mine was set to 4 minutes, and "Turn off screen". This setting overrides the screensaver settings, and the settings in General > Display > Power Control.
Thank you! I couldn't believe how much of that stuff was still in effect. I thought I'd disabled it.
HI list,
- I'm using openSUSE11.1,- plain vanilla KDE4. I can't seem to find 'Personal Settings', where do I find that menu?
If you haven't played with the defaults much, then it's in the Favorites menu when you open the Start menu (or click the Geeko or whatever you want to call it). Otherwise, go to the Applicatiosn tab and it will be there at the bottom. The Personal Settings window is also called Configure Desktop (that's the label in the start menu). Once it launches and the window is open, it's called Personal Settings. This is a bit of a naming consistency problem... it has two or three different names depending on how you look at it. :-( Can get rather confusing.
