I'm not sure if this will help anyone out. I had run into issue with the ATI driver installation which was crashing on start up. With the history of ATI/AMD drivers this wasn't a surprise to me. With a little assist from a friend, we had found that in my install the build had placed the wrong location for a x64 system. The temporary fix was done in the command window by issuing the following under root.... Dropped to runlevel 3 init 3 Then the following.......... ln -s /usr/lib64/dri dri Afterwards we killed the the on going fglrx processes identified by ps -ax The went back to run level 5 init 5 Since for some strange reason the Catalyst didn't install in my KDE4 menu so we were able to test it by issuing the command of amdcccle Whether this helps out anyone else I don't know. I'm running the Lenovo W500 with the ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 Happy Holidays -- ***************** Thank You, Michael A.
