Well, this is really bizarre. After the latest installation attempt, all seems to be working. I did nothing different the the previous installations. Following the online updates, I was able to install the wifi drivers and now have my wifi card working just fine.

I had the same problem, I couldn't reach the opensuse site and if I did I would get perhaps one package and then it would lose the connection. I running 10.0 and using yast/2 and then occassionally I would try smart (gui, console, and shell mode). But over most of the weekend I had big problems over all.
