The testprint was okay but printing from within Gimp resulted in %!PS-Adobe-3.0
I assume you print in "raw" mode from Gimp. I guess there is a print command set in Gimp which includes the option "-o raw" or you could perhaps toggle a radio button or whatever there is in the Gimp print dialog. "Raw" mode means when the application (here Gimp) produces readymade printer-specific data (i.e. the application itself runs the printer-specific printer driver). In Gimp you can set up a Gimp-Print printer driver for many models (but not for so many models as with YaST which can set up any available printer driver on the system for CUPS). If and only if you did set up a Gimp-Print printer driver in Gimp, you can print from Gimp in "raw" mode.
