Hi - thanks! Yeah, I've been to that page many times and have contacted MicroLite, and have the latest and greatest version of BackupEdge.
Good enough...
Nothing works (in fact, straight tar doesn't work either);
You didn't mention that in your original post. Obviously, there is a driver or compatability problem with the later Linux version.
but, the drive works under Windows AND it works from a USB port (with the appropriate IDE->USB adaptor) under Linux (but is SLOW....).
So hardware problems are definitely ruled out.
Interestingly enough, it did NOT work under USB with SuSE 9.3 Pro, but it DOES work with 10.0.
But slow, right?
So, I'm pretty sure it's some sort of a Linux issue. My next step will be to go back to a 9.2 machine I have here and plug it in there; but that's pretty involved because of where the two machines are located.
If it solves the immediate problem, making backups, then it's a good thing you've got a 9.2 box to fall back on. But I'll bet you can get this properly fixed (or find the existing fix) if you keep the topic active here (maybe file a bug report?) SLE a great list... Good luck! - Carl
