Lucky in having a backup PC :)
My main has all the music though, and has been running SuSE 9.3 successfully, then one day last week I found the system off, and it would not switch on again (unplugged re-plugged, changed power cord, tried different power supply), still no power.
I got a new motherboard, much better one than I had before and I notice a red led light come on when I have the power cord attached and the switch on. Pressing the button on the case results in no power, and I have gone over the reset, power etc switches to no avail.
I am guessing the following:
CPU died, but not sure if I'd get beeps (its an AMD 2800+). Case switch has malfunctioned.
Just wanted to run it by everyone.
Many thanks,
Matt
I've had a CPU die on me and the PC seemed to still fire up. Nothing worked of course and I suspect it would be a case of which BIOS is being used as to whether you would get warning beeps. Can you bridge the on/off button just to try that? The only other idea is the obvious one of (a) swapping out the CPU with another or (b) trying the original CPU in another system. Good luck. -- ============================================== I am only human, please forgive me if I make a mistake it is not deliberate. ============================================== Take care.
