Run Yast, put it your root password, goto to hardware , and put your network card (nic) in order.
If you are not familiar, and you are going straight to Internet, choose the deafults and finish out.
Then ifconfig or use ping. Ping www.google.com. If you see ip numbers and stuff with no loss, you are in business. You could also test with your favorite browser.

BTW, there are great HOWTOS and books now. Believe it or not, SUSE 9.3 for Dummies is pretty good.

Hello
I installed Suse 9.3 on HP pavillion zv6131us (AMD 64). The installer detects a network card, and everything looked fine, but when the installer tried to connect to the internet (seeking for updates) it failed.
After that, i tried to change some parameters (DHCP, fix IP, for example) but nothing, the error when I tried to reach any ip (for example a dns server) is 'Destination unreachable'.
Any suggestions/help. Sorry if it is a basic one, I am trying to move from Windows to Linux.
I don't know if there is a way to validate the parameters of the network card or maybe if it is mandatory any patch or something.
From a root shell, type ifconfig To see what is configured for your NIC.
