When I started to have problems burning using K3B or Xcdroast I worked around the problem by creating an icon on my desktop for the app, went into properties-->application--> Advanced Options--> Run as Different User and selected root. Now when I run K3B a window pops up and asks for roots password, which I supply, and then runs the program as though root started it. NO more problems burning CD's or DVD's.
