Hi Sunny,
Clive, there is some hardware conflict or problem. I googled a little, and found out, that this error "lost interrupt" may be caused by a lot of different reasons.
See the jumper settings, change it from cable select to master ot vice versa. Disable (if any) onboard sound, etc.
It looks that most of the people with such a problem were using VIA chipset, is this your situation?
Also, what happens if you put a normal (readable) cd or dvd in the drive? Does the problem still persist?
Sunny
P.S. Please, replay to list. While I have no problems with personal emails, using the list will make more people see the conversation, and to try to help.

I have changed the jumper on the cdrom and dvd and turned off the onboard sound still get the same thing, k3b refuses to run seems to be stuck on reading the ide drives. The only thing that is different is that I put cd's in each of the drives and now at least the hd light has now gone out but the splash k3b screen is still on screen but is now a blank square. The chipset seems to be SIS on this Asrock motherboard. Thanks for all you help. -- Clive. Fighting for darker skies. 52.41 N 1.30 W
