Hi: Suse 9.1 Oddly, for about 6 months, my networking worked rather well, I mean, it seemed normally fast. Now suddenly it is very slow. Pinging works, but after a minute wait. Loading a web page works, but after a minute pause. Some Googling led me to discover that the 88E8001 LAN chip on this mobo (I have the Asus K8V SE Deluxe) is known to have a problem with Linux. See the junk from my logs below. Just wondering if there is a fix for this, or if I will be buying a NIC tomorrow so I don't have to deal with this silliness anymore? Thanks. ------------------------------- From dmesg: sk98lin: Network Device Driver v6.23 (C)Copyright 1999-2004 Marvell(R). eth0: PrefPort:A RlmtMode:Check Link State ... eth0: -- ERROR -- Class: internal Software error Nr: 0x19e Msg: Vpd: Cannot read VPD keys eth0: network connection up using port A speed: 100 autonegotiation: yes duplex mode: full flowctrl: symmetric irq moderation: disabled scatter-gather: enabled From boot.msg: <notice>start services (network) Setting up network interfaces: lo lo IP address: 127.0.0.1/8 done eth0 device: Galileo Technology Ltd.: Unknown device 4320 (rev 13) eth0 configuration: eth-id-00:11:2f:2a:ab:ee eth0 IP address: 192.168.1.14/24 doneSetting up service network . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .done <notice>exit status of (network) is (0) -- _____________________ Christopher R.
