I was curious to know when X.org 6.8 will be released (it was supposed to be released on 3rd September), will there be rpms for 9.1 Prof? I am currently using the X.org 6.7 rpms and would like to try out 6.8 due to couple of very annoying issues I am having.
Osho,
they have just become available: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/freshrpms.html#suse91 look for xorg

You might want to hold off on these 6.8 rpms as they are still only beta and not final. X.org did release a 6.8, but stopped it due to many bugs/problems, so it might be advisable to delay an update to these. Don't understand why SuSE released them really.
Because everyone bitches like mad if they don't? Fergus Wilde
And that's a good reason to provide buggy, possibly harmful software why? You logic escapes me Fergus.
Because they are trying to please their customer base. If customers develop version number fever and, as they frequently do, bombard lists with 'Why hasn't SuSE released schnorfle-0.9.9.9, we're sick of having that dismal schnorfle-0.9.9.8 inflicted on us, and the code has been out since Tuesday. You don't get this with $OTHER_DISTRO, they're close to releasing rpms for schnorfle-0.9.9.9.1' messages, I imagine they try to respond from commercial pressure. You provide buggy, possibly harmful software if your living relies on it and people keep badgering you. I was simply trying to make the point that SuSE is always damned by some if it does, and damned by others if it doesn't. If I were them, I imagine I would spend quite a bit of my day thinking 'there's no pleasing some folks.' And they did make it clear that's it beta, didn't they?
