Suse 9.0 pro. Hylafax was working. Modem fried in storm. Took modem out of box (modem was ttyS0) I now have apcupsd on ttyS0 working. How do I stop faxgetty from trying to initialize the modem? I have stopped hylafax w/rchylafax stop and chkconfig hylafax off. All confirmed, but I still get:
Edit /etc/inittab - comment (#) the line that's calling gfaxgetty. It will look something like this.
# fax getty (hylafax) S0:35:respawn:/usr/lib/fax/faxgetty /dev/ttyS0
