Add a ifcfg file in /etc/sysconfig/network. You can use Yast2 or a text editor. For example, ifcfg-lo:1 contains:

Have also a look at /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg.template, and search for 'Multiple addresses'.
In SuSE Linux 9.1, you can also use YaST:
YaST -> Network devices
Pick a card, choose 'Edit'.
Click 'Advanced' -> 'Virtual Aliases'
