This is my final stab at getting an answer. I've asked the question before more than once, and I've tried everything I can think of, but no matter what I do, at some point, my display will freeze unrecoverably, either in the screensaver, the blanked screen, or while I am just doing something in Adobe Acrobat or Mozilla with the mouse. I have an nVidia video card and I have tried it with and without the nVidia drivers, using ust the nv driver, with 3D on and off, with greater and lesser color depths (which used to work in my last distro), changing the resolutions, etc., but at some point the screen will still freeze requiring a hard reboot. Not a problem with the card, because it works fine in Windows 2000 Server, and I could adjust things, as I said, in Libranet or Mandrake so it didn't happen, by reducing the color depth to 16,000 colors, which was adequate for my purposes. But can't seem to get Suse to work with my card, or I don't know the magic words. It is a Geforce2 MX400. The rest of the system is a Celeron 2.4, 512 MB RAM, 60g HD, CDRW, CDR, Proxim wireless PCI card. O/W I will just use W2000 Server, which works and doesn't freeze or break, even though it is Bill.
