Hello all,
I have been using the Speedtouch modem to connect SuSE to the Internet for the last couple of years.
I'd like get a router / ADSL modem ( that works will with kernel 2.6 because I have already placed my order )
Anyone with recommendations?
Any comments or information would be appreciated.
TIA James
Router for definite. Use a popular reliable ethernet card for which you know the support will be good, then you can be sure you will have an interface to your router except may be with the most bleeding edge kernels. This also gives you operating system independence [recommended for window$, so must be good for Linux too]. Check how your router is configured. Most use web browser, which is what you want. Probably very few now use a window$ utility, which is bad [not that few is bad, just that a window$ utility is]. I use an SMC7404BRA, which does the job [but the included print server is broken AFAICT], although there are many others. Look at http:// www.aslguide.org for reviews on a range. hth Vince Littler
