I have a kernel module I need loaded at startup for a SATA RAID controller. The .o file is happily sitting in the /lib/...kernel/drivers/scsi/ for the (only) kernel version I have. the module, however, is not loaded up at startup.
I'll make a guess: you have go to add that module to the initrd.
What file to I have do modify to load the module at system startup time?
Either the modules.conf file appropiately, or in boot.local. Can't give details, sorry (I haven't used sata so far, nor raid on bootup).
Using your editor of choice add the module name to /etc/sysconfig/kernel in the line that begins INITRD_MODULES. Next run mkinitrd which will create the initrd file for you. After that the modules should load during boot. Ken
