Not usually something you have to do, you are right Patrick.  This was 
just a method of getting KDE restarted, so that he would reset things 
there or Gnome.  Sometimes they get hung up on something and it's just 
easier to restart it. Sometimes it can all be redone within, but 
sometimes it can't.
