However, there seems to be no way with such a button to change the path to the binary if needed. Is this possible also, or do I just have to recreate the button?
Right-click on icon, select Properties. Seems pretty obvious to me.
That was what I expected. However, this "non-KDE application" button showed only a single little window with no tabs, and the only thing I could change were the command-line arguments and the icon, not the main command itself.
Ah. I've never used that little feature. I create a "Link to application" on the desktop and drag it to kicker. I right-click-modified one of these today.
Of course, all binaries should be in your path so you should simply type the name of the binary and be done with it.
Yes, but as I said, I'm setting this up for my parents as a Windows migration, so GUI is better.
You misread me. Under the "Execute" tab, in the "command" text box, simply type the name of the binary instead of the full path.
It doesn't let me bind a specific key to a specific desktop, but I can work around that.
Do you mean for switching to specific desktops? Ctrl-F1,F2,F3,etc. by default. You can change them in the place under the "Shortcut Sequences" tab. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/2has+FOexA3koIgRAlFMAJ9hz+QXFmmMf/oUlp9We6IOTxrKuACcCX1a nDW+4WpOEzDzgzXZVIpaAc0= =XGR+ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
