It has nothing to do with OpenSSL - if you'd read his mail, it makes no mention of OpenSSL. They use GnuTLS or Mozilla to avoid some issues that there are apparently with OpenSSL's licensing.
Not that it helps the OP much, but any idea what issues? openssl is under a bsd / apache style license that's about as unrestrictive as you get, isn't it? Cheers Fergus
