I have selected 1280x1024 as startup resolution, 16-bits color and 98Hz as refresh rate. (3D acceleration cannot be activated for 24-bits color)
The desktop comes up perfectly. But when I start tuxracer, my screen goes blank and my monitor goes into standby mode. The music is playing, so the game should work well. Pressing Esc ends the program and the monitor is going live again, displaying the desktop.
It seems like 3D acceleration is the troublemaker. Any ideas for a solve?
Recheck your monitor frequencies in /etc/X11/XF86Config. Tux Racer is in 640x480 resolution. It sounds like the frequency range chosen is out of range for your monitor. You could correct it in that file, or Sax2.
Just before reading your post I tried tuxracer and got the exact same problem. I checked my XF86Config and 640x480 is an available resolution. Other 3d stuff like flightgear alephone and gtulpas do work. Could it be aproblem with the tuxracer that ships with 8.2? Mike
