[04-09-03 10:07]: Is there software that will change the boundaries of a ReiserFS partition, making it smaller (all while preserving the contents of that partition) and produce a new ReiserFS partition in the space after the reduced partition?
:~> locate reiser | grep bin
/sbin/debugreiserfs /sbin/fsck.reiserfs /sbin/mkfs.reiserfs /sbin/mkreiserfs /sbin/reiserfsck /sbin/reiserfstune /sbin/resize_reiserfs
man resize_reiserfs
This is 8.1, you do not say ?? Answers to *many* questions may be found on your own machine.
Thank you for your reply! I am using 8.0, but I suspect there's no difference between 8.0 and 8.1 in this respect
I just read the man entry for resize_reiserfs. It says nothing about the files on the partition to be resized. Are these files safe (will they be re-established in the smaller version of the partition)?
Thanks again
Even if they were safe, I'd still do a backup of them to cd and other machines on the lan before the resize. Just thinking out loud as I'm sure that you'll have the bu already.
