I ended up removing all of my kde* packages (the 3.0.x versions) first,
then doing an "apt-get install kdebase3", then going to
/var/cache/apt/archives and doing an "rpm -Uvh kde*" since I had already
downloaded everything with apt.

I seem to remember that I could do it with apt-get, but cant' remember
the command. Can anyone help?
