/dev/sg4 is the ide-scsi CD-RW and /dev/sr0 is the SCSI DVD-ROM. I wonder why I get 'david' as the owner on both /dev/sr0 and /dev/sr1? Could you please tell me how you determined that your device is /dev/sg4? I am trying to solve another problem but it requires knowing this information. Finding that my drive is /dev/cdrom is easy. That's in fstab. it is also easy with Konqueror to find

AS ROOT only not a USER. If SuSE try "hwinfo --scsi" or "hwinfo --cdrom". "cdrecord --scanbus" will show the SCSI information if a scsi or ide-scsi dev is know.
