and NAT it - you only use ONE IP address then.... Assuming that you can get away with masquerading your internal network, and I don't know of many businesses that can't.
Hello Eric; If you use a hub, your ISP will have to send you 6 ipaddress (dynamically) or assign 6 static address. This usually equates to more money to dish out. If you are only paying for one IP address then router is the way to go.

My 2cents worth: I have been using Shorewall firewall setup for about a year now, My internet machine/router/firewall goes into a cable modem to earthlink. I have a small network of 5 machines being masqueraded. On a whim I purchased a Linksys and another router/hub. They worked fine out of the box but were rather vague in how to set up filtering. Shorewall, on the other hand, is simple and easy to use IF YOU HAVE READ THE DOCUMENTATION. Bottom line, I found the Linux box with Shorewall was much easier to administer than the router box.. If you are looking for a quick, easy setup for a router and you dont intend to do much modifications, the cheap router/hub is not a bad way to go. If you really want to have control over what your router does, a linux box and shorewall is tough to beat. I lied at the beginning, this is about 5 cents worth of optnion. And worth every penny.:+) BTW, I took the routers back to Best Buy. Richard
