I don't know if it's a Sylpheed thing, or a Windowmaker thing, but while URLs are highlighted within the Sylpheed message-view pane, they do not launch a browser. So, I select a URL as text, activate a browser manually, and paste.
This works for Mozilla, but not for Opera. I'm fairly sure that I could paste URLs into Opera from other apps, in KDE. Am I misremembering, or is this a difference between WM and KDE?
I tried the sylpheed and window maker included in 8.1. It works for me. Both using "copy" and "paste" from the menus and using the traditional "select" and "middle-click".
Well, my 8.1 will come when SuSE deigns to supply stock to my local distributor, in Canada. I live in hope. I've got 8.0, and I did a major update with synaptic (first time user) yesterday, which resulted in me booting direclty into WM. The source list was the SuSE8.0 list at gwdg. I'm guessing that the versions of many things that apt-get gave me for my 8.0 are probably different from the versions you have for 8.1 Or, there are a bunch of new settings that I'd have to track down. If I select a URL in a Sylpheed message, I don't just point and click. It doesn't get recognized as a unit. I have to left-button click-and-drag to select it. Then, I can do a [Ctrl]-c to buffer it, and [Ctrl]-v elsewhere to paste -- but not in Opera URL field. However, middle and right clicks do nothing but unselect, unless the selected text was an e-mail address, in which case a new, blank message is launched. By the way, referring back to one of the complaints in the "Top posting is so Microsoftish" thread, in Sylpheed I have not found any combination of methods that will allow me to reply to this list. (I've only had the program for a few hours...) My only options, from menus or icons are to reply to the sender (Anders in this case) or to reply to the sender with cc: to the list. If I put the pointer on the list-email address in a message, and right-click, I get an "add this to the address-list?" dialog, and if I middle-click, I get a new, blank message to the list.... no replied text is quoted. Maybe I just need to re-visit the WM config panel, yet again. /kevin
