Hi, I tend to agree with you... ...I have been a happy SuSE Buyer from SuSE 7.0, and I have happily purchased all the Professional editions of such releases. Unfortunately here in South Africa we tend to get things a little later then usual... ...I can recitfy that if SuSE will provide me with Resell rights here in South Africa (hint)... ...so normally my Thank-You to SuSE is delayed but sincere non-the-less. I have used RedHat, Mandrake, CorelLinux (spit), Windows (spit some more), FreeBSD, and Debian... ...but I always am glad that I stick to SuSE. What have I learnt from my experiences with SuSE: 1). Wait for the patches to be released by SuSE, as it has no doubt been tested and confirmed to work with SuSE by SuSE. 2). Wait for the new KDEs, etc to be released by SuSE via YOU, as once again it has no doubt been tested and confirmed to work with SuSE by SuSE. 3). Don't be greedy and jump the gun, there are reasons why SuSE sometimes delay in releasing patches etc. I currently run SuSE on the following machines: --> 1x Compaq Presario 1400XL (Laptop) --> 1x Athlon XP 1900 (Desktop) --> 1x PIII 600 (Desktop) --> 2x Compaq Deskpro (Desktops) --> 1x Sun Ultra 10 (SuSE 7.3) --> 2x Dual PIII 800 (Servers) --> 1x PII 333 (Server) --> 1x P166 MMX (Server) These machines all have various main boards and graphics adapters etc, and all the problems I have encountered have either been faulty BIOS (which I flashed and fixed) or problems with SuSE that I solved using the SDB. So SuSE... ...THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR WHAT I CONCERN TO BE THE BEST LINUX DISTRIBUTION OUT THERE!!! Keep up the good work! :) My 2c worth! Q On Wed, 2002-10-16 at 09:42, Steven T. Hatton wrote:
I'm disapointed in the amount of gratitude people have show toward SuSE for producting the best yet release of SuSE Linux. These people obviously work very hard at this, and, given the expectations we have, and the complexity of the task before them, do a better job than I could do.
Sure there are bugs. There were bugs in 5.2, and every other release. There will always be bugs. Remember, that's part of the game we play here. You can pay your money for the distribution, I do. Chash is a bit tight for me right now, but I shelled out the price for the professional. I've hit my share of bugs, and other surprises. All I have to do is reflect upon what the first distribution had in the way of desktop, and other functionality, and can see far more to appreciate than condemnt in this outstanding product.
Usually I'm not the only one on this list to say 'Thank you'. This time, things seem to be different. You folks aren't getting complacent are you?
