Two questions: 1. I use a portable (IBM A21m;Xircom Realport 2 Cardbus Ethernet 10/100;SuSE 8.0) that I use on three different places: a location at work woth fixed IP, an other location at work with DHCP and at home with ADSL (Alcatel Speedtouch USB). With ADSL I don't really have a problem, but when I change the network card configuration via Yast2, 'something' is not reinitialised at it should be and the network connection is made but is very slow (ping: 50% +/-0.7 ms, 25%+/- 2010 ms, 25% +/- 3010 ms; on the windows machines, desktops and portables, there is no problem). Sometimes 'rcnetwork restart' helps, but this morning I had to unplug the network card and replug it. Any idea what the problem might be? --snip-- It could be a duplex mismatch between the hub/switch and your ethernet card. If its possible, hard code the speed/duplex settings in both devices (hub/switch and PC).
