Two questions: 1. I use a portable (IBM A21m;Xircom Realport 2 Cardbus Ethernet 10/100;SuSE 8.0) that I use on three different places: a location at work woth fixed IP, an other location at work with DHCP and at home with ADSL (Alcatel Speedtouch USB). With ADSL I don't really have a problem, but when I change the network card configuration via Yast2, 'something' is not reinitialised at it should be and the network connection is made but is very slow (ping: 50% +/-0.7 ms, 25%+/- 2010 ms, 25% +/- 3010 ms; on the windows machines, desktops and portables, there is no problem). Sometimes 'rcnetwork restart' helps, but this morning I had to unplug the network card and replug it. Any idea what the problem might be? For me it is just a little 'annoyance' but I'm trying to 'prove' that it is possible to do our work on Linux machines. 2. You will probably notice that this mail has been sent via MS Outlook. That is because I don't know if and how it is possible to exchange mail with MS Exchange (I read about Ximian Connector but for me that is not a good solution). Our network administrator isn't really interested in helping me (suppose he is frightened by the idea of having Linux desktops on 'his' network but he'll better get used to it, we already have a few little servers ;-) ). If someone can give me some ideas? Any idea what the problem might be? --snip-- It could be a duplex mismatch between the hub/switch and your ethernet card. If its possible, hard code the speed/duplex settings in both devices (hub/switch and PC).

--rickey Never thought about something like that. I will take this idea to our 'specialist' and see what he thinks about it.
