k_deflt is the default kernel, i think it is pentium optimised. k_i386 is optimised for i386 k_psmp is for pentium smp (dual processor) machines k_smp is for other smp machines kernel-source provides the actual kernel source code in /usr/src/linux - its not normally required. i imagine you want k_deflt, but it depends on your machine and what you want it for?
