I thought that I would start this thread so that list members can express what they like and think needs to be improved with the SuSE interface. While I am using 7.3 Pro and not 8, I know that there are some things that haven't changed that much. Here I am thinking in particular of YAST 2. As YAST 2 from version 8 on is the only SuSE package management interface, I would like to suggest that the wish list could start here. In particular, there are two areas: 1) Some people have commented to me privately that they would like to see YAST 2 packages more logically organized according to whether you are running a work station, server, etc. A little like Mandrake. 2) I personally would like to see YOU handling ALL SuSE RPM updates and not just some deemed important for security issues. The update process appears to need some tightening of loose bolts as well, as there are a number of people on the list that have complained about getting updates that they didn't select. There have also been comments about connection and download problems. Whether that is YAST 2 or server related, I am not sure. 3) I personally would like to see YAST 2 integrate apt-rpm package manager or something like it. This is a loyal opening critique, so don't get me wrong. I don't want SuSE to be a Mandrake clone. It is important to acknowledge what others do well and how SuSE could improve after the version 8 hangover that some on the list are experiencing. Cheers, Brian
