Hi.
I have installed the VMware 3.1 and Windows XP. It went ok, but after having had the power off, and on again I cannot get vmware up running using ALT F2 and typing vmware. I have installed it twice now, but something must be really wrong. Have not the problem using vmware 3.0.
Any suggestions ??.
First thing is try typing vmware into a terminal window (ie: konsole). That way, you get to see any error messages it's reporting.
Chances are vmware-config hasn't completed properly and the necessary vmmon/vmnet services aren't running, or maybe are still running the old versions.
Here is what's happening typing vmware into a terminal window: eurit:~ # vmware VMware Workstation Error: Cannot open display. Failed to initialize user interface. Press "Enter" to continue... eurit:~ # -- Med venlig hilsen / Best regards / Vy 73 de Erik OZ4KK Erik Jakobsen - erik@urbakken.dk SuSE Linux 7.3.
