Hi. I have installed the VMware 3.1 and Windows XP. It went ok, but after having had the power off, and on again I cannot get vmware up running using ALT F2 and typing vmware. I have installed it twice now, but something must be really wrong. Have not the problem using vmware 3.0. Any suggestions ??. -- Med venlig hilsen / Best regards / Vy 73 de Erik OZ4KK Erik Jakobsen - erik@urbakken.dk SuSE Linux 7.3.

First thing is try typing vmware into a terminal window (ie: konsole). That way, you get to see any error messages it's reporting. Chances are vmware-config hasn't completed properly and the necessary vmmon/vmnet services aren't running, or maybe are still running the old versions. -- Rachel

Do you mean ALT F2 and vmware ??. If so it doesn't work.

Er... you don't normally log in as root do you? Log in as your normal user account (ie: *NOT* root. If you're using root to do your normal stuff, stop it), open a konsole window, and type "vmware" and press return. What does it say? -- Rachel
Try reinstalling vmware. It think it can't find some files. Erik Jakobsen wrote:
