Since SuSE called their rpm jfsprogs and IBM called theirs jfsutils RPM isn't intelligent enough to realize it's the same thing.
Actually, it is - you just have to tell RPM that "jfsutils" obsoletes "jfsprogs" in the spec file.
That's what I meant (I didn't know about 'obsoletes' though, thanks for the hint.) RPM can't tell it's the same contents, so you have to either tell it somehow, or remove the colliding package. Of course, that is as it should be
In fact, I renamed the package for the upcoming release accordingly and have added exactly these tags.
Now, I'm not an expert on rpm, so perhaps there's a way to do this automatically, but since all rpm -Uvh does is uninstall of the previous version and an install of the current, you could do
rpm -e jfsprogs rpm -ivh jfsutils-1.0.15-1.rpm
Yes, that's the recommended way to do it. Alternatively there is an RPM availabe from my home page.
Thanks. And welcome to sweden, btw. I'm sure you'll enjoy the company climate (we get to call our bosses by their first name :) //Anders
