I've found it necessary to kill artsd if I'm running kde. It tends to hog the dsp device. Apart from that, I've had no major problems. The sound sometimes makes weird 'clicks', but since I'm only using it for business programs, and not for playing mp3:s, that's not a problem for me. I just got around to installing VMWare from the SuSE distro CD's and getting that to run. What a cool package! It is weird to see M$ running in a virtual machine like that. Scary. Everything works, though, except sound. I am running from within KDE 2.1.2 . VMWare wants to use the /dev/dsp device, and while this does not generate errors, I am not getting any sound output. Any suggestions?
