Not quite so, I fear.   There's a very confusing issue here: the difference between installing and updating.  The "source of installation" applies to installation of the full system, not to
updating from the most recent packages, stored in a different place on the website.   (All that is the subject of a separate post.)  And the packages in the full system are the ones on the CD,
not the later ones such as the 2.4.2 kernel.
