MY cd rom has been failing. I put a new one in and get the same message, so It isn't the drive Here is what I get root@gandalf:/home/bob > mount /cdrom mount: the kernel does not recognize /dev/hdc as a block device (maybe `insmod driver'?)
What could be my problem here? This is happening on two different machines
try 'mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom' If this works then look in etc/fstab for an entry like: /dev/cdrom /cdrom auto ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 And make sure /dev/cdrom points to /dev/hdc.
