Hello, I am trying to set up a suse 6.1 machine to just use as a telnet gateway to our private network. I'm using an old 486 compaq presario cds 920 system. I have a 3com 3c509 ISA NIC, the card is detected and eth0 comes up fine. The problem is that when I try to ping any machine on our local network, there is 100% packet loss. In short, even though the network card is detected I still do not get a connection. Are there any possible causes for this? I tried changing the slots the card was in. I was going to attempt to change the card, but the only spare card I have around is a netgear EA201 card. The netgear card is not listed in the network configuration under YaST. Is there a way I can configure the netgear card to be used -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
