I had been using the OSS sound drivers and am trying to switch over to the kernel drivers. I've reconfigured the kernel (stock 2.2.15, not SuSE) to include module support for my sound card, an Ensoniq 1371. But I don't see the messages I should be getting on bootup: Sound initialization started. . . . . Sound initialization complete. Also, cat /dev/sndstat doesn't yield anything. I've looked in the Sound Howto but it's of no help. What have I failed to do?
