I had been using the OSS sound drivers and am trying to switch over to the kernel drivers. I've reconfigured the kernel (stock 2.2.15, not SuSE) to include module support for my sound card, an Ensoniq 1371. But I don't see the messages I should be getting on bootup: Sound initialization started. . . . . Sound initialization complete. Also, cat /dev/sndstat doesn't yield anything. I've looked in the Sound Howto but it's of no help. What have I failed to do? You will have to find out what the module name is and a modprobe _YOUR_SOUND_MODULE_NAME put this in you rc.local and your are al set. You will have to find out what the module name is and a
modprobe _YOUR_SOUND_MODULE_NAME
put this in you rc.local and your are al set.
I tried doing the modprobe from the command line (as root, of course) and got: /lib/modules/2.2.15/misc/es1371.o: init_module: Device or resource busy Any idea what the problem might be?
