Pacific Bell (which I think is owned by Southwestern Bell) is in the same
boat. My Dad and I tried to order DSL at the same time. He lives in the
boondocks of Sacramento County, where he has to wait two weeks to find out
*if* DSL is available, and may have to wait an additional *four weeks* to
get DSL if he can get DSL. I live near the heart of Silicon Valley and one
block from a major telecommunication vault, and it took only three weeks
for DSL to be installed. My Dad is a newbie to computers and internet,
and so far he has been disappointed with the actual computer and Internet
(with a analog modem connection) is not quite the same as what the
commericials make it out to be. >:o
