The firewall package from the SuSE 6.3 CD's didn't work. If i remember correctly this was because some important links were missing in the rpm. I downloaded the bugfixed version and my problems were solved. Marcel

Have you installed the firewalls programe in yast - sec (security)? If so it should have added a file /etc/rc.firewall. From memory, it is there you will find START_FW.

My advice is don't use the SuSE firewall setup. I spent a day trying to get it to work and everytime I started the firewall I couldn't connect.
So in rc.config: START_FW="no">
I have SuSE 6.3 and i'm in teh process of setting up a firewall. thus far I have been using HOT-TO, which basicaly tell you hwo to use IP chains, I have not seen any entry for START_FW="no" i m assuming thats a 6.4 thing. can anyone clarrify. perhaps point me in the right direction
