CNET is trying to be on both sides of the fence in the OS wars. IMHO Linux WILL replace WinXX on the desktop, for one simple reason: M$ greed. People haven't collided with the instability of W2K yet and even worse, if you've read the MS Reg wizard posts I've put on this list, they will shortly butt heads with M$ over authorization codes to reinstall their office products on their PC after W2K has crashed and blown the installation to M$ Hell. And that isn't even mentioning the problems they will have when they make a simple hardware change and M$ apps refuse to run because the REGWIZ 'thinks' a second 'pirate' copy is being attempted. When the M$ clerk refused to reauthorize they'll start looking around. Then they will find out that stability is more than just PR talk. When the paradigm cascade happens it will be quick. It will seem like it happened overnite.
