I just bought SuSE 6.3 and am very satisfied with it.
Wellcome to the club ;-)
Interesting. This is the first Suse distribution since 5.3 (and I've upgraded at every release since then) that has given me problems. All the other upgrades have been 99.9% seamless - this one has been 90% seamless: Lilo doesn't work properly and I think something has been dropped from the kernel between 2.2.10 and 2.2.13 since I cannot read audio discs from my CD drive with 2.2.13 but could with 2.2.10 (I'm going to re-install 2.2.10 tonight). The reason I think it's the kernel is an e-mail from a friend who is involved with Linux development. When I explained the problem and some of the error messages I received, his immediate response was to check the kernel. I've compiled 2.2.14 and have the same problem. It still might possibly be a hardware problem (though that is becoming less likely). So, since I could read audio from the CD with 2.2.10, I'm re-installing that with the same config that was then then to see if things still work. Otherwise, it's bug report time. In addition, in spite of being registered, I have yet to hear back from Suse support (apart that is from an automated response) concerning these problems - I sent in the report over 10 days ago. I'm concerned that Suse may be trying to push out distributions too fast. My reason for saying this is that similar things happened with Redhat about 2 years ago which is when I moved over to Suse. I really hope that this upgrade has just been a glitch in the system and that they will return to normal soon.
