Hi everybody,
in order to provide the current nework card module with a clear and easy structure we have done some redesign for openSUSE 10.3. Please see http://en.opensuse.org/YaST/Network_Card_Module for details.
I am looking forward to your comments!
Hi Martin,
Network Settings - General Settings -- Network Setup Method --- Network Manager (recommended for mobile computers - laptops) --- ifup (recommended for all others)
I can't guess what is expected to enter in "DHCP Client Identification" - my computer name - host name - something else
You're right, we need to update screenshots. In current version there is Hostname/DNS tab with all this options
I would put firewall as separate tab in this group (Network Settings), instead in some other place as it is now.
I don't agree with this. Firewall is completely separate configuration module with another purpose (don't forget KISS rule - keep it stupid, simple)
It would be good for multiple network devices in one computer to have ability to turn device off/on like once before was possible with column Active. Check that column will activate device, uncheck will deactivate (unload drivers etc). This would be great help in case of problems.
You mean STARTMODE=off? We have option for this.
Network device settings - General Settings -- MTU deserves some explanation considering DSL that uses smaller MTU than 1500, to help users if they experience problems.
You're right. It would be great if you create bugzilla report for this. Could you?
- Address I'm missing default gateway and DNS server(s) for Static setup.
They are not on screenshots but we have "Hostname/Dns" and "Route" tabs
-- Additional Addresses What would be that? Already configured or something else.
More IP addresses for same interface. Bye, Michal
